SERP snippet preview and pixel width checker
Free SERP snippet preview. Check title tag and meta description pixel width on desktop and mobile before Google truncates them.
Widths are measured with the same fonts Google uses (Arial 20px titles, 14px descriptions) in your browser. Google rewrites some snippets on its own, so treat this as a strong guide, not a guarantee.
How to use the snippet preview
- Paste your title tag and meta description.
- Keep the title bar green: under about 580px fits on desktop without an ellipsis.
- Keep the description under about 920px on desktop and 680px on mobile so the key message is not cut.
- Put the primary keyword and the reason to click early. The end of the line is the part most likely to be cut.
Pixels, not characters
Google truncates titles by rendered width, not by a character count. "WWWW" is far wider than "iiii", so a 55-character title can be cut while a 65-character one fits. That is why this tool measures pixels.
Questions people ask
Aim for under about 580 pixels, which is roughly 50 to 60 characters of mixed text. Google measures rendered width, so wide letters use the budget faster.
About 920 pixels on desktop (roughly 150 to 160 characters) and about 680 pixels on mobile. Put the core message in the first 120 characters.
Google rewrites titles it judges unhelpful, such as titles stuffed with keywords, duplicated across pages, or not matching the page. A clear, unique title that matches the H1 is rewritten less often.
