What an MCP config does
The Model Context Protocol lets an AI client start a local tool server and call its tools during a chat. The config tells the client which command to run, which arguments to pass, and which environment variables (such as API tokens) to set. The JSON shape differs slightly by client: most use mcpServers, VS Code uses servers, and Zed uses context_servers. This generator handles those differences.

VS Code's MCP support uses its own mcp.json schema with a top-level servers object and a type field. Pasting a Cursor-style mcpServers block there will not load.
